The Smithsonian Institution seeks construction of Phase 2 – Habitats & Animal Care Building for the Arabian Leopard Facility at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, 3001 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008. The Firm Fixed Price contract is estimated to exceed $10 million and has a base performance period of 578 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. The work involves specialized zoo construction on an occupied historic campus, including animal doors/transfer systems, radiant flooring, containment fencing/mesh/chutes, shotcrete faux rock/trees, sound and vibration mitigation, coordination with zoo operations and animal welfare, LEED compliance, and BIM. Offers will be accepted only from previously prequalified firms: Grunley, Consigli, and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. The project includes a 40% small business subcontracting goal and Davis Bacon wage determinations.
