The Smithsonian Institution is planning a full and open solicitation for a design-build contract to construct a 2.0 MW DC ground-mounted solar array system for agrivoltaics research. The work will be performed on approximately 12 acres of agricultural land at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, MD. The contract requires commencement of on-site work within 60 days of a Notice to Proceed and full system completion within 434 calendar days. The total estimated cost for the project is more than $10,000,000. This is a pre-solicitation notice, and the official request for proposals is planned for release around April 2026.
