The passport photo system should have firmware or some other feature that allows USPS employees the ability to quickly and easily frame the subject to meet the DOS standards. The DOS standards can be found at http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/pptphotoreq/pptphotoreq_5333.html Other preferred specifications for passport photo system include: Digital Camera preferably larger in size for ease of use (especially for passport fairs) and will be less likely prone to theft Minimum megapixels per DOS standards Ability to automatically reduce photo size to 2 X 2 print Color photo on quality paper Dimensions must be in a square aspect ratio (height must be equal to the width) Minimum acceptable dimensions are 600 x 600 pixels; Maximum acceptable dimensions are 1200 x 1200 pixels Auto focus Guideline sticker to facilitate alignment of the facial position per DOS standards. The guideline sticker will be affixed to the monitor screen on the camera.
