THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (NRC) is issuing this Sources Sought Notice as a means of conducting market research. Specifically, the purpose for which NRC is issuing the Sources Sought is not to announce any existing requirement nor solicit for any high-level waste work. The Sources Sought is issued solely to facilitate an effort required of the agency sponsor (NRC) to review its Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) criteria set forth in 48 CFR (FAR) 35.017-(c)(2) to consider alternative sources for any potential future requirement in the technical area of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and high-level radioactive waste (HLW) management, including transportation, storage, disposal, and environmental impact of HLW. SNF and HLW are referred together here as HLW.
