JPL is seeking information from qualified vendors on their ability to provide Optical Engineering and Optomechanical Engineering services to support anticipated resource shortfalls across upcoming flight programs. The work covers the full engineering lifecycle of specialized instruments, including off-axis reflective telescopes, cryogenic imaging systems, hyperspectral imaging, and multiband imaging systems. Required capabilities include high-level optical design and modeling, optomechanical hardware design, STOP analysis, test automation, and hands-on integration, alignment, and verification in cleanroom environments. Some projects may require an active TS/SCI clearance, and partners must support both unclassified and classified work while facilitating technology transfer for multi-copy instrument builds. This RFI is for planning purposes only and may influence a future solicitation, including possible small business set-aside decisions.
