ENTER SOW/BID SCHEDULE: Specification Sheet Manufacturer: VAT Valve Part#: 75232-CE44-0006 Desc: Fast closing pneumatic valve DN 40 (1 ½") flange: CF-F fixed flange metric threads, stainless steel, pneumatic actuator with position indicator with solenoid valve double acting Purpose: The fast closing valve will be used to protect the accelerator within the Radiation Effects Facility from a catastrophic failure which could result from the rupture of a thin metal window. There is an interest in looking at chemical reactions caused by 1 MeV protons in gasses at 1 atm, which necessitates accelerating the protons through a very thin metal window. In the event of a film rupture, the air in the test chamber will rush into the accelerator system, and will likely damage the accelerator tube. This valve closes fast enough to have a chance of interrupting the gas inrush, unlike a standard pneumatic gate valve.
