NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) has a requirement for a modification to 80LARC24PA005 Multi-Hoist System and Air Caster System, increasing the scope of work. This action includes revising the 60k lbs. capacity winch with a longer cable length, increased drum size, and winch motor gearing. The proposed changes are necessary for facilitating daily inspections of the rigging hardware attached to the snatch block by enabling the lowering of the snatch block with rigging hardware to ground level. The modification will encompass changes to the following: a) Increase 60K winch drum from single wrapped to double wrapped. b) Increase 60K winch cable length to 630-feet. c) Alter the 60K winch VFD control system, requiring the radio controller to offer feedback on the winch’s percentage of travel (0-100%). d) Increase the 60K winch two-part reeving system to provide at least 200-feet of vertical travel for the snatch block. e) Extend delivery of the 60K winch interface hole pattern and outer mold line dimensions to four (4) weeks after contract modification award. f) Extend final delivery of all equipment and contract period of performance to 29-NOV-2024. NASA LaRC intends to issue a sole source firm-fixed-price contract modification to acquire the additional items from the current Vendor; Superior Lidgerwood Mundy Corp. (SLM) under the authority of FAR Part 13.5. The total contract value will be increased by $58,518.75 from $781,485.00 to $840,003.75. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
