NASA’s Johnson Space Center is conducting market research for a state-of-the-art audio distribution system that can be ruggedized for human spaceflight spacecraft and induced environments. Phase one seeks to identify a commercial audio distribution system from commercial, automotive, aerospace, or military audio communication manufacturers, with information on functionality, size, weight, power, interfaces, processor platform, reliability features, and other design elements. In phase two, NASA would assess responses against spacecraft functional and environmental requirements and the feasibility of modifications such as electronic circuit redesign, radiation-tolerant component substitution, and software/hardware process enhancements. Interested providers may propose a full spacecraft audio system, a partial audio subsystem, or a software and/or IP core solution for other spacecraft avionics hardware.
