The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Center is hereby soliciting information about potential sources for a Portable Oxygen Systems for Medical Emergencies. NASA, in partnership with other organizations, has been evaluating ways to direct technical capabilities to help with the national COVID-19 response. One of the topic areas NASA is especially interested in evaluating involves oxygen. NASA is requesting additional information about methods of generating oxygen that can support temporary hospital facilities built to treat COVID-19 patients. Target capabilities are as follows: Purity: oxygen purity is >99.9% Delivery Rate 1: bedside unit, one device per patient, normally 6-14 lpm, 20 lpm max Delivery Rate 2: central unit, supplying several patients at the same time Delivery Pressure: minimum delivery pressure is 40 psig Power Interface: target power interface is 120 VAC Power Use: target power use is < 150 W/lpm production rate Portability: System should be capable of shipment and installation in less than 30 minutes per unit Untended Operation: System should operate continuously, untended, for more >500 hours Quantity: 2000 units is the delivery target Interested parties, with oxygen generation capability that can meet these requirements, are encouraged to reply to this RFI with additional information. Parties should submit a written document, 15 pages in length or shorter. This document should include a description of the technology, available test data, an estimate of delivery schedule and delivery rate. NASA COVID-19 response activities have highlighted the importance of a secure supply chain when responding to urgent needs. The RFI response should include information about supply chain of critical components. Please advise if the requirement is considered to be a commercial or commercial-type product. A commercial item is defined in FAR 2.101. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only and there is no solicitation at this time. This request for capability information does not constitute a request for proposals and submission of any information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary. The government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred and the respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in beta.SAM.gov. It is the potential offeror’s responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. If the Government issues a Request for Proposal (RFP), the government reserves the right to restrict the procurement to small businesses.
