NASA Glenn Research Center has a requirement for 1:1 RATIO with integral 2.625:1 RATIO Gearbox. NASA/GRC intends to issue a sole source contract to acquire the item from Lufkin Gears, LLC under the authority of 6.302. The additional gear box units must remain under the same data acquisition system that is currently used at NEAT and is unique to Lufkin. Instrumentation would be interchangeable between existing units and the new gearbox. A gearbox from another company will require a completely different data acquisition system, with instrumentation and parts different than those used by Lufkin The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to Sarah DeRoche, sarah.a.deroche@nasa.gov no later than 12:00pm on August 31, 2022, titled “80GRC022PA022 Capability/Qualification Statement”. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
