NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center anticipates issuing an Announcement for Partnership Proposals (AFPP) to solicit and award one or more Funded Space Act Agreements for the design, build, test, and flight of an advanced airframe configuration and related technologies to dramatically reduce aircraft fuel burn and CO2 emissions as part of the Sustainable Flight Demonstrator project. As a result of this competition, NASA anticipates entering into one agreement, with the potential for more, with private industry to support development of the advanced airframe and related technologies to maximize the potential for commercial EIS in the 2030s. The goals of the Project are to: Develop and flight test an advanced airframe configuration and related technologies to dramatically reduce aircraft fuel burn and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions Obtain ground and flight data that will be used by the NASA/industry teams to validate the configuration and associated technologies Inform industry decisions associated with next generation single-aisle seat class product [2030s Entry Into Service] to maximize the potential to meet U.S. environmental goals articulated in the U.S. Aviation Climate Action Plan.
