NASA/AFRC has a requirement for the design, fabrication, and testing of 6 each paired custom-tailored force profile patterned magnets for utilization in a NASA sponsored Early Career Initive Project Entitled: Dust tolerant connector for cryogenic fluid transfer (e.g. the CryoMag Project). The requirement will include an option for two additional paired units (e.g. the Magnetic Subsystem) as applicable. The magnetic subsystem(s) will comply with the NASA provided specifications and be delivered to NASA for subsequent integration into its supplied prototype cryogenic fluid transfer coupling system. During NASA integration and test activities, the Contractor will remain involved with project telecons and working groups to provide magnetic expertise and assist with magnetic related troubleshooting. NASA/AFRC intends to issue a sole source contract to acquire the services from Correlated Magnetics Research LLC., located at 101 Quality Cir NW Ste. 150, Huntsville, AL 35806-4535, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(b)(1). The Government does intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to Contracts Specialist Tiffany Goodwin at tiffany.n.goodwin@nasa.gov or Contracting Officer Lisa Jackson at lisa.a.jackson@nasa.gov not later than 9:00 a.m. PDT on March 25, 2021. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
