Answer to Question 1: NASA agrees with granting this extension request. The new due date is March 20, 2023. ______________________________________________________________________ NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) is hereby soliciting information from potential sources for the Technologies to Remove Carbon Dioxide with Ionic Liquids effort. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) MSFC is seeking capability statements from all interested parties, including all socioeconomic categories of Small Businesses and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)/Minority Institutions (MI), and members of the underserved communities as defined by Executive Order 13985, Advancing Racial Equity And Support For Underserved Communities Through The Federal Government, for the purposes of determining the appropriate level of competition and/or small business subcontracting goals for the Technologies to Remove Carbon Dioxide with Ionic Liquids effort. The Government reserves the right to consider a Small, 8(a), Women-owned (WOSB), Service Disabled Veteran (SD-VOSB), Economically Disadvantaged Women-owned Small Business (EDWOSB) or HUBZone business set-aside based on responses received. NASA/MSFC is seeking information on companies that can remove carbon dioxide (CO2) in a spacecraft environment using ionic liquid technology and demonstrate the system on the International Space Station (ISS). The system requirements and schedule are noted below. Major Interface Requirements The system shall remove a minimum of 4.16 kg/day (.38lb/hr) of CO2 given the following conditions. -Intake quantity of partial pressure of CO2 of 2 TORR -Inlet temperature less than 55F -Inlet dew point less than 55F -Water content entrained water droplets are no greater than 1.0 gr/lb The system outlet shall deliver carbon dioxide with -An oxygen concentration of less than 1% by volume -A nitrogen concentration of less than 2% by volume -At less than -65F dew point The system will be resident in an ISS Basic EXPRESS Rack (BER). Schedule The desired delivery schedule is as follows: The system must be flight ready no later than December 2026. Respondents should provide information demonstrating their capability to meet the above requirements and schedule. Data from research and testing, if performed, will be significant to understanding likelihood to meet requirements and schedule noted above. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on SAM.gov. Interested firms are responsible for monitoring this website for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Interested firms having the required capabilities necessary to meet the above requirement described herein should submit a capability statement of no more than ten (10) pages indicating the ability to perform all aspects of the effort. Statement of Capabilities NASA MSFC is seeking capability statements from all interested parties, regardless of business size or status, for the purposes of determining the appropriate level of competition for this requirement. Interested parties that have the experience base, expertise, and capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated requirements are invited to submit a response to this sources sought notice. Response Instructions: We request responses no later than March 13, 2023 at 3:00p.m. CST - in the form of written and illustrated concepts, ideas, and descriptions of capabilities. Number of years in business and list of customers for the past five years: The Government encourages respondents to provide a list of customers for the past five years that helps demonstrate the respondent firm's capabilities and experiences. (Interested parties may opt to present a subset of past customers that is most relevant to the requirement.) 5. Discussion of experience relevant to the requirements above 6. Statement of capabilities and qualifications that address the respondent's ability to provide support which meets the requirements specified above Additionally, in support of the Executive Order (EO) 13985, Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government, NASA is seeking to advance equity or remove barriers for members of underserved communities related to this requirement. As defined in the EO, Underserved Communities refers to populations sharing a particular characteristic, as well as geographic communities, that have been systematically denied a full opportunity to participate in aspects of economic, social, and civic life, as exemplified by the list in the preceding definition of "equity."
