THIS SOURCES SOUGHT POSTING IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL: Background A contractor that manufactures specialized metal carts is needed to support large object transports from Capitol Hill to the Library's high density, offsite storage facilities. These specialized metal carts are referenced as Type B Carts, Version III (small). The Government anticipates a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract. The Government anticipates a firm-fixed price (FFP) Contract. Anticipated Period of Performance: base year plus four option years. Sources Sought Instructions This sources sought is a market research tool being used to (a) solicit industry input on the attached drafted Statement of Work (SOW) and (b) determine potential sources that are capable of providing the services described herein prior to determining the method of acquisition and issuance of a Request for Proposal (RFP). Specifically, the Library wishes industry feedback on the following questions: 1. Are there alternatives to the pin option for securing the adjustable side shelf support brackets currently specified in the design? 2. Are there other materials, composite or otherwise, that would allow for a lighter weight cart while maintaining the strength and durability of the steel construction provided in the details and specifications for specialized metal carts within the SOW? If alternatives are available, how would they compare in price? 3. What type of design sketch will you be able to provide with your quote? 4. "The Library is looking for a locking mechanism that will allow the two swinging door panels to close and lock securely and snuggly. We need to ensure that the design will not allow for materials to fall between the doors and the interior shelves." What solution would you recommend for doors that do not need to be removed? (Removable doors are too cumbersome and heavy.) Interested parties are invited to submit a capability statement package, including responses to questions, inputs to the draft SOW, and a relevant experience (design and build custom products) and expertise (manufacture and delivery on schedule). All responses must include the following information: Company Name; Company Address; and Point-of-Contact (POC) name, phone number, and e-mail address. There is no page limit to this response. Please send responses by email to Contract Specialist James Graham at jgraha@loc.gov and cc: to Contracting Officer James Summers at jasu@loc.gov. Submissions must be received by email no later than 12:00PM EST Friday June 28, 2019. Questions or comments regarding this notice may be addressed to James Graham via email with James Summers copied. The Government is not obligated to and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this sources sought.
