June 6, 2022 The purpose of this amendment is to post answers to questions asked in response to the solicitation. Please see new attachments: 1) Questions and Answers - Release 1 - 030ADV22Q0161 2) PMLC_Directive ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This is a combined Synopsis/Solicitation. See attached documents for a copy of the solicitation as well as additional information. The contractor shall provide technical support for NLS created software tools for NLS audio and braille book production, and provide software development services to modify, enhance existing media production software applications (audio and braille book production tools), in accordance with Library agile practices. The National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) administers a free program that loans recorded/audio and braille books, magazines, music scores in braille, and large print to visually and physically impaired United States citizens. The national program works with a network of cooperating libraries nationwide to provide direct service to eligible individuals and institutions in various states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. The program extends to qualified American citizens that reside aboard as well. NLS Braille Audio Reading Download (BARD) is a secure website (https://nlsbard.loc.gov/) that allows approved NLS patrons or institutions to download digital talking books and magazines (DTB) and digital braille books and magazines (DBB) from the BARD website. BARD works like an online, digital Library giving patrons the ability to search for books, create wishlists, set preferences, and download books for future playback.
