In June 2024 (tentative soft opening May 2024), The Library of Congress will open a new learning space in the Southwest Corridor of the Thomas Jefferson Building in a newly renovated space on the ground floor (approximately 5,700 square feet). The SWC will be a user-driven flexible, participatory, experiential space that inspires intergenerational groups that include children ages 7-13 to use the Library and to learn about doing research by engaging in co-learning with the institution’s collections, people, and services. The Southwest Corridor will inspire visitors to make the practices of research part of their lives and will invite them to use the Library’s resources for their own creative purposes. The Library seeks a contractor that has an extensive body of work creating meaningful and enjoyable learning and participatory experiences (including learning labs, welcome centers, and similar areas) in cultural institutions that are akin to the scale and scope of the Library of Congress. Further details for the procurement can be found in the attached solicitation – 030ADV21R0116. Amendment 0001 The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions. See atatched amendment and supporting documents.
