GSA Fleet requires an interstate justice and public safety network service through a secure private network. This service allows federal vehicle registration information to pass from the Federal Motor Vehicle Registration System (FMVRS) through a quick, reliable, and secure network-based IP solution in which each state has an interface to the NLETS network, and all law enforcement agencies within the local, state, federal and certain international agencies operate through this portal when querying the federal vehicle's license plate number or vehicle identification number (VIN).
