The FCC Enforcement Bureau requires fixed automatic direction finding systems that are compatible with the Icom R8600 communications receiver. Icom R8600 communications receivers are used throughout the Enforcement Bureau’s Field Division for remote monitoring purposes. EB requires this compatibility in order to reduce training burdens on field agents. Requiring the use of only one type of receiver accomplishes this goal. In addition to the receiver requirement, EB has set forth the below salient system characteristics required for use of this type of direction finding system in the field:
