The EPA is required to assess the environmental impacts from biofuels as a part of Section 204 of the Energy Independence and Security Act, and in setting the required volumes under Reset and Set. This procurement is designed to derive a robust statistical subsample from the 200+ biorefineries in the U.S. to help select the roughly 10-20 that are representative of all biorefineries across the nation. That subset of biorefineries will then be used for subsequent analysis.
