This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract. Pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), Contracting Officers may solicit from one source if it's determined only one source is reasonably available to satisfy agency requirements. The EPA Region 8 intends to award on a sole source basis a firm fixed price purchase order to Braun Northwest, Inc. (Braun NW). The intent of this action is to purchase a new chassis and all incidental installation services for the custom-built Region 08 Emergency Response Truck Module. In addition, some minor repairs will be conducted, and some supplies will be purchased for installation. Braun NW is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) who won the original purchase contract via competitive procedures. The module has a lifetime warranty on the modular body, all exterior doors and all interior aluminum cabinets which would be voided if remount or repairs are performed by any firm other than Braun NW or its authorized remount/repair facility. No authorized facility exists to perform remounts. Moreover, module remounts require significant electrical system interfacing to connect the new chassis to the old module. This electrical work is the most critical portion of the effort and has historically proven to be the most difficult for to successfully complete. Braun NW is uniquely positioned to ensure no electrical problems exists because of their knowledge of the system¿s design and construction as the equipment¿s OEM.
