The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology, Product Delivery Service, Health Infrastructure and Systems Management, Clinical Imaging Product Line requires enhancement of the existing DICOM Router Application software that interacts with VistA Imaging. The DICOM Compass routers are used at VA medical centers and by VA SCIP, Community Image Exchange Services, and VA IT technical staff to route medical images/studies, normalize DICOM headers, balance load, provide backup/redundancy, manage workflows, secure data, support archival/storage, and integrate with imaging systems, PACS, and EHRs. VA facility DCF Run-time licenses are also essential for local operations staff to deploy and use LB applications in production, including DICOM routers, migration tools, and workflow management capabilities supporting Veteran care. The requirement aims to improve processing efficiency and fault tolerance by reducing overall duty time of each DICOM Compass Router and enhancing interoperability across imaging systems and vendors.
