It is a dynamic body weight support system that helps in fall prevention, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and patient training. It requires annual preventive maintenance from the manufacturer, OEM. Until 2021, the maintenance for this equipment was covered under warranty. The estimated value of the proposed action is $34,970.00. 1. The base year requires a software upgrade totaling $14,990. 2. The remaining four option years are $4,995 per year. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: Annual maintenance cannot be performed in-house or through 3rd party vendors due to the proprietary software and equipment manufacturer recommendations. Also, see Sole Source Statement provided by the manufacturer. Description of market research conducted and results or statement why it was not conducted: Market research was conducted, and it is determined that the Bioness lift system is a proprietary system so that and PM service and software cannot be obtained from another distributor, since the required updated software, maintenance and technology is proprietary to Bioness, therefore a sole source award must be made to Bioness.
