NWI Offsite Pathology Services
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, requires medical laboratory, pathology, and testing analysis services, including pre-analytic processing, analysis, reporting, and interpretation of clinical and anatomical pathology specimens for participating facilities. The contractor will provide Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Services on a scheduled basis in accordance with the contract specifications. The VA will handle specimen collection, preparation, and grossing except for cytology specimens, while the contractor will gross global surgical pathology cases. The VA will accession histology and cytology cases, perform VistA accessioning, and preserve and store final slides and blocks, all of which must be returned to the VA for permanent storage.
