The Department of Veterans Affairs VISN 23 requires on-site, Board Certified Nephrology Physician Services for the Black Hills Health Care System to maintain uninterrupted specialized renal care for Veterans. The contractor must provide qualified physician labor and expertise for evaluation, treatment, and management of complex nephrology conditions in accordance with the PWS and QASP, meeting or exceeding community standards of care. Because alternate sourcing would cause unacceptable delays in patient care, a one-year sole-source procurement is required to ensure continuity while a follow-on competitive acquisition is developed.
