The purpose of this sources sought notice is to gain knowledge of qualified potential contractors and their socio-economic size classification in accordance with NAICS code 334516. NAICS Code 334516 – Analytical laboratory instrument maintenance. Responses will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. See the statement of work excerpt below. Description: VA Central Iowa Health Care System, 3600 30th Street, Des Moines, IA 50310-1318 has an immediate requirement for: two (2) microtomes. Microtomes are used to section paraffin-embedded specimens for routine histopathology. The Des Moines Iowa Veterans Administration requires the following brand name or equal to specifications as applied to the Epredia HM 355S Automatic Microtome. Salient Characteristics (at least 5), The item must: be/ have/ do these things • Have a footprint of approximately 16.0 inches wide by 20.5 inches deep by 11.0 inches high • Must provide manual and/or foot pedal control • Must allow for emergency stop for safety • Must contain multiple cutting modes for operation • Must contain a display monitor that can be used on either side of the instrument to accommodate staff • (1 each) Maintenance Manuals (CD, PDF or Word) • (1 each) User Manuals • (1 each) Cleaning Instructions for all equipment, supplies and accessories • 1-year warranty included in cost (parts and labor) After a review of the responses to this notice, a solicitation announcement may be posted to Contract Opportunities.
