Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount: This is an urgent request for immunologically humanized mice for a four-year VA funded research program. The clinical trials will be conducted by the research study team under Dr Ling Gao; who has been mandated to perform a Preclinical investigation of P13k inhibition and immune checkpoint blockade combination therapy for treatment of Merkel cell carcinoma. Deliveries for the engrafted mice supply will be scheduled whenever needed as ordered by the Research team and taken from the same cohort for effective observational outcomes. Estimated amount: $42,540.17 3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: The research study comprised of the supply of Humanized Mice models; is necessary for Preclinical Investigation of P13K Inhibition and Immune Checkpoint Blackade Combination Therapy for Treatment of Merkel Cell Carcinoma Using Humanized Mouse Models . As a year long study, the department requires engrafted mice which are readily available and come from the same co-hort for the duration of the study. The Jackson Laboratory, a large business; maintains an inventory of CD34+ hematopoietic stem cell mice with various strains, as well as the genotypes of strains with identified molecular mutations, which can fulfill this requirement. The humanized mice in the vendor s live inventory meet the specific engraftment criteria required for the Doctor led study. The Jackson Laboratory submitted a proprietary memo regarding the specialized development of the immunologically humanized mice models and has been developing the models specifically for this VA led research. Additionally, the VA has partnered with this supplier to provide a previous order as part of this study.
