The Watchdog protects animal health and provides accurate data storage. The basic functions include environmental monitoring of temperature, humidity, differential pressure, airflow, and lighting states. In addition, the Watchdog provides control of watering, light conditions, and room access. The system determines when alarm conditions occur and initiates the appropriate notification sequence. Edstrom Ind, LLC is the original awardee of the Edstrom vivarium watchdog unit and was awarded a 5yr service contract (36C26218C0186) that will expire 8/31/23. Edstrom Ind, LLC officially changed their name to Avidity Science, LLC effective August 1, 2018. A service maintenance contract is critical to ensuring the proper function of this vital equipment. The Watchdog monitors every animal room in the research animal unit, making it invaluable to the proper function of the unit.
