The requirement is for new computer on wheels (COWs)... The overall purpose is the G.V. (SONNY) MONTGOMERY VA MEDICAL CENTER has a COVID-19 Emergency Procurement of 62 Howard Medical Hi-Care E, BASE:109. The requirement is for new computer on wheels (COWs) without the computer component. We are requesting Computer on Wheels so that our nursing and COVID clinical staff can have access to reliable, more efficient equipment for daily clinical workload as it relates to COVID and other patient care services (medication administration). Many of our current COWs were placed into the workforce in 2011 and are requiring recurrent requests for repairs to the equipment. These COWs are being decommissioned by our biomed department as they are not economically feasible to repair. With the arrival of the COVID pandemic, our COW resources have been strained even further with other staff requiring use of mobile devices to screen and safely accommodate our Veterans. COWs for our inpatient nursing staff have been depleted due to this increase in need across our inpatient areas (ICU, 4A, 4C), outpatient areas (ED, Amb Surg, PACU, Dialysis, PC Clinics, Chemo, etc.).
