STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENT Pulmonary Function Testing equipment Purpose The requested pulmonary function testing equipment is needed to equip the Marion, Illinois VA Medical Center (MVAMC) Respiratory Therapy Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) Lab, Place of Performance The pulmonary function testing system will be delivered to the Marion, IL VA Medical Center Specification: Pulmonary function tests measure capacities and flows of patient lungs and breathing, response to breathing medication and the ability of the lungs to move oxygen to and from the bloodstream. The equipment necessary to perform these measurements include: - Spirometer, - A glass encased chamber large enough for the patient to be sealed inside (Whole Body Plethysmograph), - Cylinders of test gases, - Computer equipped with hardware and software to control the PFT equipment. The equipment should be capable of measuring the following parameters: Calibration, pre/post spirometry, Broncho-provocation testing, Flow Volume Loops, Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Maximum Voluntary Ventilation, Lung Volumes (nitrogen washout), Diffusing Capacity-Single Breath, maximum inspiratory pressure, maximum expiratory pressure, whole body plethysmography. The Whole Body Plethysmograph should be capable of measuring slow vital capacity, airway resistance, thoracic gas volume, FVC and Flow Volume Loops. The Plethysmograph should be large enough to accommodate a patient weighing >400 lbs, and include a height adjustable chair. Realtime QA monitoring alerts, and the newest ATS/ERS/NLHEP standards need to be included. Test date, time, calibration, and environmental conditions linked with patient file data. The system should be able to be interfaced with the VA's EMR. The vendor should have the technical expertise and a track record of successful implementation with the VA EMR. Included in the equipment should be one rack mount server to serve as a data exchange gateway. This rack mount server will run the gateway software required for the network interface and should be compatible with the seat licenses. The vendor should provide clinical user training. Specialized training will be provided for 6-8 respiratory therapists, be taught by a clinical specialist, and include, but not limited to: Operations and set-up Spirometry Bronchoprovocation Diffusion capacity Lung volumes (N2) Plethysmography Reports User maintenance Safety User Troubleshooting Quality Assurance Negotiating and understanding machine profiles The equipment should come with all parts, hardware, software, cables, hoses, etc. necessary to use in clinical settings. The vendor will provide complete installation and testing of equipment to ensure proper functioning. Trade-in requested for existing equipment. location of Work PFT equipment is being requested for Respiratory Therapy's Pulmonary Function lab at the Marion, Illinois VA Medical Center. All equipment will be located and operated in this clinic. Special Requirements The equipment should be able to pass through a 82" tall x 37.5" wide doorway. Plethysmograph door should not allow crimping of IV lines when door is closed.
