Question 1: The RFI #3 below state that only conduit in Bldg. 40 can be reused. Every electrical drawing notes The DEISGN INTENT is to re-use the existing raceway where new devices are replacing devices in the same location. See the demo drawings for reference. Can this question be clarified further? Do can conduit be reused in all buildings as shown on the drawings? Answer: Conduit cannot be reused in all buildings; only conduit in Bldg. 40 can be reused as described in RFI #3 response. Question 2: There are conflicting notes in regards to the rough-in system for the low voltage systems. Is full conduit required even in accessible ceilings? Or is free air acceptable? Answer: Cabling can be run across j-hooks within accessible corridor ceiling spaces only. Contractor must submit coordination drawings showing proposed raceway system and run across j-hooks for VA review prior to installation.

Pre-Solicitation Notice 36C25222B0012 Project: Upgrade Nurse Call Project Number: 537-19-124 Location: Jesse Brown VA Medical Center Contractor shall provide for and furnish all labor, materials, equipment, qualified supervision, and other items (to be designated in the solicitation) in accordance with the specifications and drawings to complete Project 537-19-124, Upgrade Nurse Call, at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL. All work shall be completed within 428 calendar days after award and receiving the Notice to Proceed from the Contracting Officer. The project phasing plan will be included in the solicitation, including what each phase contains and the duration of each phase. The project magnitude price range is between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) for this procurement is 238210 (Electrical Contractors and Other Wiring Installation Contractors), Size Standard: $16.5 million The solicitation (including any/all specifications and drawings) is scheduled to be posted to sam.gov on or about January 10, 2022, with the bid opening on or about February 10, 2022. Bidders are responsible for monitoring and downloading any amendments from sam.gov which may be issued to this solicitation. A pre-bid conference/site walk-through will be conducted for this project.
