This project is at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center located at 1500 Weiss Street in Saginaw, Michigan and is to replace failing equipment and upgrade control components on the existing air handling system that serves the Primary Care area of Building 1. The air handling unit is a Trane model made up of six (6) modular sections consisting of the mixing box with filter section, internal face and bypass section, heating coil section, access section, cooling coil section, and supply fan section. The return air is ducted to the air handling unit by a Trane 7.5 hp centrifugal belt driven return fan with 27” wheel. There is also outside air ducted to the air handler and exhaust air ductwork attached to the return ductwork. The cooling coil is direct expansion (DX) supplied by a Trane 30 ton air cooled condensing unit and the heating coil is supplied from the heating hot water system. The condensing unit, cooling coil, heating coil, return fan, and return air, outside air, and face and bypass dampers have had issues due to age and are needing replacement. Damper actuators and the heating hot water control valve are pneumatic and need upgrading to electronic.
