The contract requires a licensed laboratory animal veterinarian to provide veterinary care and direct the operation of the animal research facility at the VAPHS. The role includes ensuring compliance with regulations, supporting research programs, and assuming the official Attending Veterinarian responsibilities. On-site visits to the facility are required on average twice per week. The position involves supporting researchers with specialized techniques, experimental design, and protocol reviews, as well as managing a quality control program for rodent colonies. All services are to be performed at the VAPHS location.
