The VA Portland Health Care System, 3710 SW US Veterans Hospital Road, Portland, VA Cancer Research Center has a Brand Name or Equal requirement for procurement item description. The following items are required: This is a brand name OR equal requirement for a Confocal Point Scanning Microscope. Salient characteristics include: Obtain a confocal point scanning system with beam splitters for use in both cell culture research and tissue studies with live and fixed samples. This system includes a highly sensitive, prism-based spectral detection design with computer controlled adjustable bandwidth for all fluorescence detection channels. Up to 2 different laser ports are available, dependent on the configuration, for in coupling of 405 nm and up to 5 visible lasers. In combination with the new Power HyD® S detectors this system allows for maximized detection efficiency for all commonly available fluorophores and allows the application and separation of multiple spectrally overlapping markers, up to five simultaneously.
