The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VISN 09 Network Contracting Office, is seeking sources that can provide a BD Symphony S6 Cell Sorter and associated components to include the air compressor and biosafety cabinet. Specifically, the BD Symphony utilizes both a series of photon filters and additional detectors to resolve differences in emission spectra from excited fluorophores. Additional vendors do not utilize this technology but instead rely of either a single system of filters or detectors alone for resolution of emission spectra. This machine has the capacity to analyze the emission spectra of up to 20 fluorophores per laser line of which the BD symphony is configured with 5 lasers and can be upgraded to 9 lasers, a feature not shared by any currently available cell sorter on the market. Using these lasers, the sorter has the capacity resolve each fluorophore independently and then sort cells 6-ways based on their fluorescence signature. There is not another example of this technology available for purchase.
