The Barcode scanners will support the cl... STATEMENT OF NEED GENERAL: James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd, Tampa, Florida 33612, has a requirement for handheld Bar Code scanners. The Barcode scanners will support the clinical staff that work with implants in 11 Operating rooms, Cardiac Cath, Ep Lab, IR, Podiatry Clinic, Ent Clinic, Dermatology Clinic, Vascular clinic, Women Health Clinic, SCI Wound Care Clinic, Dental PCA Clinic, NPR Dental clinic and Telehealth wound care clinics as well as the Supply Chain personnel (Item Managers) that receive the implants upon shipment. BACKGROUND: The James A Haley Medical Center has a new Implant Coordinator who is in the process building a program to track biological and non-biological implants. PURPOSE: The Barcode scanners ensure accurate documentation of implants in the implant tracking software to avoid errors caused by manual entry of implants' serial and lot numbers as well as expiration date improving patient safety and facilitating the localization of patients in case an FDA recall event occurs. The use of the scanner will considerably reduce the physical workload and time spend by supply chain management personnel documenting the shipment and entering the implants' serial and lot numbers as well as expiration date into UDI tracker.
