THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY This is a sources sought notice only and it is not a solicitation announcement. The purpose of this sources sought notice is to gain knowledge of qualified, potential contractors and their socio-economic size classification in accordance with NAICS code 334516 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies). Responses will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After a review of the responses to this sources sought notice, a solicitation announcement may be posted. A response to this sources sought notice is not an adequate reply to a potentially forthcoming solicitation. The Department of Veterans Affairs, (NCO 08), Miami VA Healthcare System Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service has a requirement for two (2) grossing station (Surgical Pathology and Autopsy services) Brand Name or Equal to Mopec Maestro. We are seeking authorized Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB s), Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB s), Small Business (SB s) or Large Business (LB s) manufacturers/distributors that can provide all labor, equipment, tools, material, supervision and other items and services necessary to perform the work. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS The grossing stations must be designed and equipped with all the necessary components / technology to satisfy characteristics addressed in the Minimum Requirement: FRONT AIR SYSTEM A system that directs air flow over the dissection surface from the front to the back, thereby further reducing staff exposer to formaldehyde vapor. ORGANIC VAPOR / FORMALDEHYDE DETECTION SENSOR An active detection system which detects presence of volatile organic vapors (VOC), such as formaldehyde, in the air surrounding work surface of the grossing station and uses software and analyze and present this information on an LCD display, that is capable of audio-visual interaction, allowing the user to set parameters, that when exceeded, will trigger and audible and visual alarm. DIGITAL AUDIO-VISUAL DISPLAY AND TOUCH INPUT CONTROLLER A combination display & input user interface (touch screen) that utilizes audio-visual input and feedback methods to control system s functions, to display performance status of those functions, including, but not limited to lights, fan speed, volatile organic vapor detection system information, formalin waster and dispenser levels, and air flow. MOTORIZED ELEVATION A motorized system capable of raising and lowering equipment to provide accessibility to work surfaces for employees with variant physical characteristics and requirement, to reduce the possibility physical injuries that are commonly seen in people in laboratory professionals performing work of this type; in compliance with American with Disabilities Act.No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this Sources Sought and no contract will be directly awarded on the basis of this sources sought. Any information submitted by respondents to this Sources Sought shall be voluntary.
