The purchase of t... Statement of Work (SOW) For Omega Hard Ballistic Armor Plates for the VA Police Service General: The James A. Haley VA Hospital Police Service has a need for additional armor plates. The purchase of these plates will assist the Police Service in effectively and safely responding to an Active Shooter incident as well as providing a safer environment for Veterans, staff, and visitors. Background: This procurement of the Hard Armor Plates used alone will protect the officer from .357 Caliber rounds, as well as .44 mag rounds. However, when this plate is worn in conjunction with the plate currently used it protects against the rifle rounds. Purpose: The purpose of the requirement is to provide protection from rifle rounds. The current ballistic body armor each uniformed officer wears does not provide the necessary protection against rifle rounds. Scope: The Hard Ballistic Armor Plates must have the following specifications: A total of 110 Shooter s Cut Plates measuring 8 in X 10 in. to be used in conjunction with ballistic plates the officers are currently wearing.
