Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount: Seizure protection pads. Posey Seizure Pads are form fitted to fit snugly over the existing hospital bed side rails with a 1" (3 cm) layer of medium density foam to help safeguard against accidental patient injury. The outer shell is constructed from lightweight sheer nylon denier to help prevent patient rub burns. Total Estimated Value: [REDACTED]; No Options Included. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: BRAND NAME ONLY. The manufacturer, Hill Rom stated that the only manufacturer of Seizure pads that fit the Centrella and Progressa model of beds is Posey Company, a TIDI Products Brand. Hill Rom used to manufacture this product bust discontinued. Due to the limited market for the requirement, it is in the government s best interest to follow manufacturer recommendations for the brand that fits their beds that allows for the exact specifications and keeps bed functions to the maximum extent practicable. Description of market research conducted and results or statement why it was not conducted: Market Research was conducted. According to Hill Rom, the bed manufacturer, they no longer sell the seizure pad side rail covers the manufacturer noted that Posey is the only manufactured end product that will fit the Centrella and Progressa model beds. [Redacted] (WOSB) and [redacted] (SB) have been identified to sell Posey seizure pad side-rails for the Centrella and Progressa bed models. No sources were identified on GSA, NAC-FSS or other mandatory source. The VA rule of two cannot be met. I recommend a total small business set-aside using FAR Part 13.
