The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center (RHJVAMC) has a need to procure Yttrium-90 (Y-90) TheraSphere for the treatment of patients diagnosed with primary liver cancer unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HHC). contractor to provide and deliver single unit doses of Y-90 on a specific date/time as determined by the RHJVAMC Interventional Radiology Clinic personnel. The Contractor must be properly licensed to ship radiopharmaceuticals according to Federal laws and regulations. Y-90 TheraSphere is a form of radioembolization therapy that consists of millions of small glass beads containing radioactive Y-90. This product is injected by the physician into the artery of the patient’s liver through a catheter, which allows for a high dose of radiation to be delivered to the tumor via blood flow, thereby limiting the damage to surrounding health tissue and side effects to the patient.
