THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. This notice does NOT constitute a request for proposal, request for quote, or invitation for bid. No formal solicitation document exists at this time. Market Research is being conducted to Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB), Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Business, 8(a), Woman Owned Small Business or HUBZone interests. The Hampton Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) is trying to determine whether to set-aside an acquisition to where the contractor shall provide timely verification of pending outpatient mail prescription orders for eligible Veterans serviced by the Salem VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia and its Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Danville, Lynchburg, Staunton, Tazewell and Wytheville, Virginia by virtual contract pharmacists , who shall work remotely for a base plus four (4) Option Years. The Salem VA Medical Center (VAMC) Pharmacy Service verifies approximately 1.2 million outpatient prescriptions each year for eligible Veterans seen by providers at the Salem VAMC and the five associated community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), located in Danville, Lynchburg, Staunton, Tazewell, and Wytheville, Virginia, as well as Veterans under the care of a Care in the Community Provider, as authorized by the Salem VAMC. This verification must be completed in a timely manner to provide Veterans with their outpatient prescriptions for medications and supplies. The scope of the acquisition includes but is not limited to - Services are to include: The contractor (also referred to as virtual contract pharmacists) shall provide timely verification (no more than two days past date of entry) of pending outpatient mail prescription orders for eligible Veterans, and provide timely verification (no more than 30 minutes past time of entry) of pending outpatient window prescriptions remotely of the pending outpatient prescription orders, including drugs and supplies. The contractor shall evaluate each prescription order for appropriate doses, accurate directions for the Veteran, and any potential contraindications, including drug-allergy and drug-drug interactions. The contractor shall have a working knowledge of the VA Formulary and the Vista Computer System Outpatient Prescription Processing menu options. The contractor shall have experience accessing the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) to review progress notes and evaluate laboratory test results to assist in the verification of pending outpatient prescription orders for special needs items. The virtual contract pharmacists employed by the contractor must be a United States Citizen and a graduate of a degree program in pharmacy from an approved college or university: The degree program must have been approved by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), or prior to the establishment of ACPE, have been a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). The virtual contract pharmacists employed by the contractor must hold a valid Pharmacist license, including any additional licensures as required in the state in which they are licensed (i.e. controlled substances).
