SOURCES SOUGHT DESCRIPTION This is NOT a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought/RFI only. The purpose of this sources sought/RFI is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification relative to NAICS 721110: Hotels (excepts casino hotels) and motels. Responses to this sources sought will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After review of the responses to this sources sought, a solicitation announcement may be published. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not considered adequate responses for a solicitation announcement. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VISN 05 Network Contracting Office, is seeking sources that can complete requirements for Transplant Patient Lodging for the DC VA Medical Center, and that at a minimum meets the requirements listed under the description section below. The information identified above is intended to be descriptive, not restrictive and to indicate the quality of the supplies/services that will be satisfactory. It is the responsibility of the interested source to demonstrate to the government that the interested parties can provide the supplies/services that fulfill the required specifications. If you are interested and are capable of providing the sought out supplies/services, please provide the requested information as well as the information indicated below. A through description of your facility and ability to accommodate Veteran Patients and Caregivers to support this acquisition. Description BACKGROUND: The Washington DC VAMC, along with the MEDSTAR-GEORGETOWN MEDICAL CENTER requires lodging services for veteran transplant patients for both pre- & post-operative control of infection which is a critical element for this type of veteran patient s weakening medical condition. Having a clean lodging environment will help to ensure patient safety. The lodging accommodations must be within a 10 15-mile radius of the MEDSTAR-GEORGETOWN MEDICAL CENTER and Transplant Surgical Hospital due to frequent follow-ups, and monitoring, until the veteran patient is stable enough to return home. SCOPE OF WORK: This is a non-personnel services contract to provide lodging services to the Washington DC VAMC Organ Transplant Program for veteran patients and their caregivers referred for this service through the VA National Surgical Office. The services will be authorized for those cases referred by VA medical centers (primary DCVAMC) across the country that cannot be accommodated by a VA-in-house transplant program for reasons such as, but not limited to, scheduling, capacity, or wait lists. The contractor shall provide the following lodging services as specified herein for eligible veterans and their caregivers. CONTRACTOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide short- or long-term lodging service for referred Organ Transplant veteran patients and their caregivers on 24 hour / 7 days a week basis until the veteran patient is medically able to be discharged. Ensure that all organ transplant veteran patients and caregivers being lodged are provided an orientation of the lodging facility, including fire and safety information and whom to call in an emergency. Provides rooms equipped with special lodging needs that the transplant veteran patient may require; such as, multi-position sleep chairs, and separate kitchen and storage facilities with key coded locks for each individual. Ensure the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the room are suitable for all veteran patients and caregivers. QUALIFICATIONS/ OPERATING LICENSES The contractor is required to maintain lodging operating licensing certifications as required by state and federal laws. The contractor's facility must meet all Federal, State, VA, and local fire and life safety codes to ensure veteran patient and caregiver safety.
