Statement of Work Replace and Install Door Assemblies, Automatic Door Operators and Controllers. 688-23-4-459-0374 General Scope The Contractor shall provide all labor and parts necessary to complete services defined in this Statement of Work for the Washington DC VA Medical Center VISN 05 located at 50 Irving Street NW, Washington DC 20422. The services shall encompass needed replacement and installation of door unit assemblies, replacement of failed automatic door operators as well as the installation of operators and actuator controllers needed at other doorways that have been identified as deficient and non-compliant with the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standard to correct accessibility requirements for disabled persons. This installation will correct issues of security for the building, correct ADA Compliance issues and maintain secured areas in which workflow requires continuous flow throughout the operational hours within the facility such as the SPS corridor. The following provides a breakdown in Scope for each location and a comprehensive description of involved doors. Current condition of the doors impedes the flow of patients entering and exiting the facility and areas within, especially those with mobility challenges as failed operators require more pressure to open and the doors lacking operators make entering areas such as restroom challenging. Additional concerns being addressed are those of security of the building This service is necessary to maintain compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code) requirements. Included in this requirement are the following nine door locations. For each location the scope provides detail of how the door is to operate and be controlled. For each location as required to comply with BHMA A156.19 and A156.10 presence sensors shall be installed as stated in sections 7.6.1 and 8.1.4. Additionally, this includes the integration of access controls when applicable (by others) to secure the doors. (Rear Hall SPD) next to GE-263 (Door that Leads to Main Electrical Vault) (Rear Hall SPD) next to GE-115A Office Main Patriot corridor to SPS Corridor Replace operator and actuator controllers to door 3A-140K, Scope Cleaning Room with new automatic door operator complete assembly. Replace actuator controllers to door 3A-140L, Scope HLD Processing Room. Replace existing Commercial Full Breakout Automatic sliding door assembly Main Egress/Ingress door to Building 6 Replace existing operator on door in Main Corridor to Emergency Department. Door provides controlled access into and out of the emergency department into the main hospital. Replace operator and actuator controllers to door 1C-120E, Restroom Door in Clinic Install complete single door operator and actuator controllers to door by GD-100 (Rear Hall SPD) next to GE-263 (Door that Leads to Main Electrical Vault) Remove existing dual automatic door operator unit assembly, controls, and wiring (that will be abandoned). This shall include any sensors or controls associated with the existing dual operator unit assembly. Install complete new dual automatic door operator unit assembly unit shall open double doors upon activation. The automatic door operator shall be installed on same side of opening as the one removed. Unit shall be secured structurally sound above the door header and meet all manufactures specifications. Power and wiring for the unit is provided by facilities; Contractor shall terminate into the new operator as needed to power and control the unit. Door operator shall open and close doors such that the door with mullion closes first. The dual automatic door operator assembly shall be equipped with accessible keyed switches with features below: [ON/OFF; AUTO; HOLD OPEN] [ONE-WAY/ TWO-WAY] if applicable At least 2 keys shall be provided and turned over to the COR upon completion and demonstration of installation. Actuator Controls for the dual automatic door operator shall be as follows: Approaching and entering the doorway from the back corridor into the corridor separating the Canteen from Sterilization Processing Department (SPD) The actuator controller shall be wave to open touchless hand swipe plate. The wave to open actuator shall activate the door without physical contact by activating via wave motion in front of device. The unit shall be or equivalent to the BEA 10MS41-DA with an adjustable range and adjustable relay hold time. The plate shall feature rounded corners and a customizable illuminated ring with audible signaling. The installation shall include all relay modules needed to interface with the dual operator assembly making the actuator work as intended. The wave to open shall be designed to install into a two-gang outlet box or two gang low voltage device ring such as an Arlington LV-2. The device shall be installed in the outlet box, properly fitting to the wall and level. The wave to open actuator controller shall be placed in an outlet box or low voltage device ring provided by VA Medical Center Electrician. VA Medical Center Electrician will install the low voltage cable for the actuator controller from the 2-gang outlet box and route it and leave it in the ceiling above the location in which the dual operator assembly is to be installed. Contractor will be responsible for routing the cable into the wall and into the back of the operator properly concealing cable complying to all applicable codes. Approaching and entering the doorway while in the corridor separating the Canteen from Sterilization Processing Department (SPD) leading to the back corridor. A motion sensor device shall be installed to activate the operation of the dual automatic door operator, opening the door allowing pedestrians and/or pedestrians pushing carts to continue through to the rear corridor. The placement and or timing of this device shall allow the doors to open as the doorway is being approached. Fully opening prior to entering the swing space of the door. The doors shall remain open until the path of the doors closing is clear from any traffic. Contractor will be responsible for the necessary wiring for this device. Contractor shall include the necessary Safety sensors to make door compliant to all applicable codes door shall remain open until pedestrian and or object clears the door opening. The sensor(s) shall be or equivalent to the BEA LZ FLATSCAN time-of-flight presence sensor which exceeds the 156.10 section 8.2.2.3 standard for detection area and meets section 8.1.4 for monitoring. The surrounding environment shall not interfere with the operation of the sensor(s); the sensor shall be compatible to all types of flooring, pedi-mats, carpets, or wet surfaces. This includes but not limited to guiderails, walls, weather. The leading-edge safety detection shall detect beyond the leading edge of the door. Securing door from entry door shall be assessed by Police Services to determine the scope of securing the door. Securing of the door is separate from operator and the associated controls. The Contractor under this requirement shall provide necessary interfacing technology such as a dry contact to disable the operator when the door(s) are secured and return to normal operation when access is granted. The Contractor under this requirement shall present an RFI to ensure appropriate means will be provided to allow access control to disable the door operation from the secure side(s). Securing of the door(s) is accomplished by others such as an Access Control Contractor. Access control shall be evaluated by others The automatic door shall operate independently of the access control. Access Control devices will disable the actuator controllers necessary to secure the door. The installation shall be that the access control will not adversely affect the components of the automatic operator such as activating while the door is secured and damaging the automatic operator. Contractor shall install or confirm installation of signage to denote caution to pedestrians that the door is automatic and to open door either approach or activate actuator controllers. Signage to comply with Section 6 of BHMA A156.19 After operator is in place, door latches will need to be disabled, then secured via mag locks under the access control contract (by others). Once maglocks are installed, an interruption in door controls will need to be done. The Contractor under this requirement shall present an RFI to ensure appropriate means will be provided to allow access control to disable the door operation from the secure side(s). Unable to interlock door panels and secure existing doors. This shall include any sensors or controls associated with the existing full breakout door unit assembly. Install complete new commercial full breakout automatic unit assembly unit shall slide open slide panel activation. The assembly shall be or equivalent to the Dormakaba ESA300 single slide door assembly in clear anodized finish. The door shall open with maximum clearance. Shall meet the minimum clearances that comply with building and accessibility standards. Sliding Automatic Door Configuration: Single Slide full breakout door system. Configuration: Single slide One sliding leaves and one operable panel. Traffic Pattern: Two Way Emergency Breakaway Capability: Interior sliding leaf and sidelite. The door assembly shall be so designed to allow for emergency breakout of the sliding and sidelite panel(s) Unit shall be secured structurally into opening and meet all manufactures specifications. Installation shall be installed to comply with manufactures specifications, building and safety codes as applicable. Caulking Frames and hardware shall match existing Glazing Glass: Glazing shall comply with ANSI Z97.1 thickness as indicated. Glazing Active Door Panels [1/4 (6 mm) to 1 ¼ (32 mm)] tempered unless otherwise specified. Glazing Sidelite Door Panels [1/4 (6 mm) to 1 ¼ (32 mm)] tempered unless otherwise specified Glazing Transom Panel [1/4 [6 mm] tempered, unless otherwise specified Glazing Installation: Review Division 8 Section for glazing requirements. Weather stripping Weather stripping shall meet AAMA 701-11 Class A, slide in type, replaceable nylon retained by the aluminum extrusions to reduce energy loss. The following types of weather-stripping are required: nylon pile weather stripping on the door bottoms; dual pile weather-stripping at sliding door lead edges; weather-stripping between the carrier and header on the sliding doors; dual pile weather-stripping at the interlock rails between the sliding door and sidelites; dual pile weather-weather-stripping between the side lights doors and the door jambs.
