Department of Veteran Affairs Steam Kettles (Brand Name or Equal) Request for Information (RFI) The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing this RFI in accordance with FAR 15.201(e). This RFI is issued for the purpose of conducting capabilities and market research. Accordingly, this RFI constitutes neither a Request for Proposal (RFP) nor a guarantee that one will be issued by the Government in the future; furthermore, it does not commit the Government to contract for any services described herein. Do not submit a proposal. The Department of Veterans Affairs is not at this time, seeking proposals or quotes and therefore will not accept, review, or evaluate unsolicited proposals or quotes received in response hereto. This notice is not to be construed as a commitment on the part of the Government to award a contract, nor does the Government intend to pay for any information submitted as a result of this request. The Government does not reimburse respondents for costs associated with submission of the information being requested or reimburse expenses incurred for responses to this RFI. The information provided may be used by VA in developing an acquisition strategy and Product Description (PD). Any information submitted by respondents to this RFI is strictly voluntary; however, any information received shall become the property of the Government and will not be returned to the respondent. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary, restricted or sensitive information contained in their response. The (2) existing kettles will be disconnected and removed from there wall mounts for disposal by the site. (Existing mounting bolts will be cut off flush at the wall). The new kettle and stand mounted kettles will be set in place and anchored to the floor as required. The existing hood wash drain pipe will be redirected to allow clearance for the stand mounted kettles. We will connect to the existing steam supply and return piping for each kettle. The pantry faucets will be connected to the existing water supply. The operation of each kettle will be checked when completed. All work will be done during regular business hours (7am-4pm) Monday - Friday. Site will provide parking and access during the installation period. Plastic sheeting will be installed as temporary barrier for dust control from floor to ceiling at work area. Not in our scope of work: Wall repairs, tile work, painting and associated repairs due to removal of existing equipment will be by others. Plumbing supplies other than existing will be provided and installed by others. Site responsible for working shut off valves for steam supply system for work to be performed. Each 1 PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: 30 Days ARO STATEMENT OF WORK: Overview: Nutrition & Food Services (120), VAMHCS, is responsible for preparing approximately 1025 meals per day for all three VAMHCS sites. The Cleveland direct steam kettles are necessary for food preparation. This requirement is for the replacement of our current steam kettles which are obsolete. Currently in place are aging (over 20 years old) steam kettles that are utilized almost continuously during the workday. Should the current model kettles fail to operate properly, food preparation would be severely hampered thus preventing Nutrition & Food Services from providing patient meals. Purpose: This piece of equipment is essential in food safety and sanitation maintain Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines for food safety. General Description: The Cleveland steam kettles is used in Food Preparation to prepare soups, sauces, vegetables, starches, and entrees. NFS is requesting three Cleveland steam kettles to allow us to function more efficiently. Applicable Documents: None.
