Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Equipment and Associated Batteries Preventative Maintenance and Service The Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center (DC VAMC) has two Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems; one is in the server room on the 4th floor for OI&T equipment, the other is in 2A on the 2nd floor in the Genitourinary Suite (GU). The physical location is VISN 05 VAMC 50 Irving Street, NW Washington, DC 20422. These UPS units are connected and powered through the hospital s Essential Electrical System (EES) providing a bridge during the transferring of the normal (Utility) power and the alternate source (Emergency) diesel generators. The UPS units also acts as a power conditioner for the connected loads which reduces and/or eliminates power surge s that may cause sags and swells adversely affecting the sinewave of the circuit/feeder by delivering a stable and quality source of power. The Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center (DC VAMC) has need for scheduled preventive maintenance for (UPS) Equipment and associated batteries. This service is necessary to ensure the UPS equipment will perform as necessary to sustain the critical information technology (IT) systems reliant on a continuous and quality power source.
