Contracting Activity: Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 05, Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Facilities Management Service, 540-22-2-248-0019 Nature and/or Description of the Action Being Processed: This requirement will provide a six-month emergency bridge contract to lease a sterilization trailer at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV from vendor Mobile Medical International Corporation. To prevent a lapse in service, an emergency order is needed to give time to process a longer termed order. This lease will cover the period from March 22, 2022 through September 21, 2022. The estimated amount is $602,387.58. This service was previously awarded with contract 36C24520C0112 to vendor Mobile Medical International Corporation. Description of Supplies/Services Required to Meet the Agency s Needs: The purpose of the Mobile Medical International Corporation trailer is to provide sterilization of reusable medical devices for patient care procedures throughout the medical center. These devices are used in medical procedures and delivered to the trailer for sterilization prior to reuse. This function is a critical role to the hospital for ensuring the prevention of infection to patients through contaminated devices. The need for this trailer arose in 2018 as improper water quality was observed within the facility s own sterilization equipment and water piping. While a full renovation to the facility s Sterile Processing Service is being designed and planned for construction in fiscal year 2023, the trailer was leased and placed in service to ensure the safety of patients and a continuance of patient care.
