Scope of Need The Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL) of the VAPHS has a requirement for a brand name or equal requirement for a Handheld Self-positioning 3D Blue Laser Scanner System. The Laser Scanner system is a device that uses laser range finding to measure and digitally register and record shape and measurements. The uses for the device are for scanning a wide range of items, from gears to human hands, and inputting the scanned data into a format that can be viewed, analyzed, and edited using Computer Aided Design Software (CAD). HERL will use these scans to create new Assistive Technologies (AT) that works closely with existing AT products or interfaces in a custom fitted way to Veterans who need AT.
