The intent of this Sources Sought Notice 36C24421Q0557 is to identify any Small Businesses, mainly SDVOSB/VOSB vendors who can provide Ultra Low Temperature Freezers (-80C) as listed in the attached Statement of Need. In addition, we are also seeking any Small Business manufacturers that have the capability of providing this system as well. This is neither a solicitation nor a promise of future work. Small Business, SDVOSB, and/or VOSB manufacturers authorized distributors are encouraged to submit your company s information and capability statement in response to this Sources Sought Notice. This notice does not constitute a formal Request for Quote (RFQ), nor is the government obligated to issues an RFQ. In addition, the Government does not intend to pay for any information provided under this notice. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey. Potential vendors should respond with their ability to provide the following brand name: The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VISN 4, Network Contracting Office 4 (NCO 4), is seeking information and potential qualified sources capable of meeting the Statement of Work (SOW) for a Brand Name or Equal, for the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, 3900 Woodland Ave, Philadelphia, PA. The information identified above is intended to be descriptive, not restrictive and to indicate the quality of the supplies/services that will be satisfactory. It is the responsibility of interested parties to demonstrate to the government that they are capable of providing the equipment or supply that fulfills the required minimum specifications mentioned above. STATEMENT OF WORK The Department of Veterans Affairs, Philadelphia VA Medical Center, has a BRAND NAME or EQUAL requirement for a Thermo Scientific TSX ULT 400 80 Freezers. The purchase of 4 Ultra Low Temperature Freezers (-80C) for sample and reagent storage. Introduction In research, sample quality preservation is necessary to obtain useful information from current studies. Ultra-low temperature freezers are one of the most optimal ways to easily store samples and reagents that are prone to degradation. There are many research samples that require ultra-low temperatures to prevent degradation or denaturation. These ultra-low temperature freezers are essential in a lab collecting samples, acquiring proteins, or primers, among many other supplies. With ongoing research comes an increase in the number of samples or supplies that may need ultra-low temperature storage. To keep up with demand incoming samples, more freezer space is needed. The TSX is made to take up less room but with the same holding capacity which is good in small research labs that still need the storage for samples. The TSX is also similar to other equipment currently in the lab which will allow ease of use. It is designed to adapt to user patterns, substantially reducing energy and HVAC costs without compromising performance. With such largescale experiments happening at the same time, it is necessary to have substantial space for sample storage.
