ANSWER: YES EQUIPMENT CAN BE SHIPPED TO THE VA AND STORED. Can the selected vendor store equipment at the Hospital? ANSWER: YES, VA CAN PROVIDE A SPACE TO STORE EQUIPMENT. Will the rooms be occupied during the work? ANSWER: YES, PATIENT ROOMS WILL BE OCCUPIED. VA WILL WORK WITH UNIT MANAGERS TO ENSURE ROOMS ARE UNOCCUPIED AS THE VENDOR NEEDS TO GO INTO THE ROOM. A ROOM LIST WILL BE GIVEN TO MANAGERS EACH DAY SO THAT PATIENTS CAN BE RELOCATED THE FOLLOWING DAY. How high are the ceilings? Any lifts required? ANSWER: CEILINGS ARE GENERALLY 8-10 FEET TALL. NO LIFT SHOULD BE NEEDED. Under the heading of item 4 Specific Tasks it is stated that The contractor shall provide, install, and verify proper operation of the RG6 cable backbone for 225 patient televisions . However, since the headend system is pre-existing, who is responsible for making the final connections at the demarc locations - the AV contractor or the CATV provider? ANSWER: It really depends on who finishes the install first. The CATV provider will be installing about the same time. The AV contractor will be responsible for making the final connections at the demark locations if the CATV is already installed. If not, it will be the responsibility of the CATV provider or myself. More information will be provided and known once the CATV contract is awarded. Will the incumbent CATV provider be able to provide drawings of the existing cable infrastructure that also includes dB power figures from the head end splitters in each demark location? ANSWER: We do not have drawings at this time as the cable infrastructure is not installed. At the time of award of this contract, I hope to have more information about the infrastructure that can be provided to the contractor. How many locations will require a new wall plate? ANSWER: All 225 Can the VA provide a floor plan of the facility that identifies the demarks and the locations of the new displays? ANSWER: Not at this time as the backend equipment hasn t been installed. This information will be provided once the contract is awarded. The cable runs will be no more than 150 ft in length. This information was provided by the CATV providers as a requirement. There will be 2-4 televisions per room for a majority of the rooms. Some rooms have only one television. The facility is over 100 acres with 25 buildings that have televisions in them. What is the procedure for obtaining a penetration permit from the Coatesville VA Fire Department? ANSWER: The contractor will meet with the Fire Department to fill out paperwork explaining where you will be working. Once the work is complete you will return the permit and the Fire Department will inspect the area to ensure it is sealed properly. Fire department is located on campus and is staffed 24/7. Is the space above the ceiling where the RG6 will be installed plenum rated or not? ANSWER: Not plenum rated Are we to utilize the same wall plate that currently exists for the new coaxial cable connection? ANSWER: No, 225 new wall plates are needed. They will be located next to the current wall plates. Are we responsible for connecting the new cable once the new signal is switched over if we complete the entire project before September 30th? ANSWER: No, if completed before September 30th, Coatesville will switch over the cables when the new signal is switched. This is why we are not reutilizing the current wall plates as we can t have televisions unable to receive signal if the new cable is installed before the switch over. The new RG6 infrastructure will not work with our current cable provider so we need both systems running side by side during installation.
