The associated North ... 1.0 DISCLAIMER This Request for Information (RFI) is issued in accordance with the FAR 10.002(b)(2) to determine the availability and technical capabilities of qualified sources. The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 325998, All Other Miscellaneous Chemical Product and Preparation Manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 650 employees. The FAR Provision found at 52.204-7(b)(1) requires that All interested Offerors must be registered in SAM prior to submitting an offer or quotation. This notice is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a commitment on the part of the Government to award a contract, nor does the Government intend to pay for any information submitted as a result of this notice. This RFI is part of a continuous process for obtaining the latest information on the commercial status of the industry with respect to their current and near-term abilities. The information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit for, or award, a competitive contract. It is emphasized that this is a notice solely for planning and informational purposes. 2.0 DESCRIPTION OF ANTICIPATED NEED The Stratton (Albany) VA Medical Center intends to purchase bulk rock salt. The Stratton VAMC is anticipating an estimated need of about 210 tons, to be delivered in 20-ton increments on an as-needed basis during the 2025-2026 Winter Season. The rock salt will be used on campus grounds, roads, and sidewalks. The rock salt must meet the salient characteristics listed below, at a minimum: SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS OF BULK ROCK SALT Shall be deicing type sodium chloride containing an anti-caking agent. Shall be completely free of dirt, fibers, lint, rainwater, trash, or other foreign matter. Shall be effective to a low temperature of at least -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Shall contain no more than 1% water. DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS Deliveries shall be on an as-needed basis. Deliveries must be made within 48 hours once new orders are placed. The information identified above is intended to be descriptive, not restrictive and to indicate the quality of the supplies/services that will be satisfactory.
