The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 2 is issuing this sources-sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support a requirement to restore the steam trap monitoring system, at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center (130 West Kingsbridge Road Bronx, NY 10468). The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 238220 Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors. STATEMENT OF NEED: The James J. Peters VA Medical Center anticipates a requirement for the repair, upgrade, and expansion of the existing SteamEye® wireless steam trap monitoring system in buildings 100, 101, and 105. The monitoring system (which is not currently functional) needs to be able to monitor all the existing and newly installed transmitters (approximately 80) for steam trap failures. Restoring system operability will likely require testing and repairing transmitters, ensuring sufficient RF signal strength from repeaters, and troubleshooting and repairing any issues prohibiting effective programming/operation of the SteamEye® Gateway. This existing monitoring system consists of transmitter models URFM4700 & URFC4700, SteamEye® Gateway receiver, and repeaters model RP4000. Contractor is required to furnish all labor and equipment to accomplish the task and all tasks shall be performed during a time and in a manner not to interfere with building normal activities and operations. All work should be completed within 60 days and must comply with OSHA safety standards. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AT THIS TIME. The government will evaluate market information to ascertain potential market capacity to provide services consistent in scope and scale with those described in this notice and otherwise anticipated. Based on the responses to this sources-sought notice/market research, this requirement may be set-aside for small businesses or procured through full and open competition.
